About Nik
Melodic, stylistic and sweet are just a few words to describe the sound of emerging singer-songwriter, Nik. Standing at just 4’11, this small but mighty Atlanta-based songstress lends her larger than life vocals and unique harmonies to staple music genres, including R&B, pop, alternative, jazz and gospel.
Nik’s introduction to music came early in life by way of her mother, grandmother and uncle, who all inspired her to sing. She grew up just a few miles outside the City of Atlanta and discovered her natural vocal talent while singing in her church’s youth choir. Although quite shy and soft-spoken, Nik embraced her newfound passion and learned the art of performance when she joined her high school’s audition show choir. She continued to use her gifts while attending Georgia State University. By day, she studied public relations and worked a handful of campus jobs and internships; by night, she built her confidence and a small following from YouTube videos and various on-campus performances.
After graduating college in 2013, Nik focused on establishing a successful career in corporate communications and music took a back seat. But, it never left her completely. Whenever asked, she performed at churches, weddings, open mic nights, birthday parties and other local events. And after much encouragement from family and friends, in 2017, she started a live cover band, Nik & the Phoenix. From her corporate connections, Nik landed gigs for her band to perform for companies, such as The Home Depot, Porsche Cars North America and Turner Broadcasting.
In 2020, the global pandemic shook the event and music industries. During this time, Nik has embraced her passion for music in a new and exciting way and has begun to work on original music, including an EP releasing by the end of this year. In June, she released her first original single, “Be Alright,” on SoundCloud.
With a bright future in music ahead, Nik aims to inspire through song and encourage everyone during this unprecedented time to do what they love and walk in their purpose.
